It came in another box during shipping by the way. Once opened, you can see everything is nicely packed with plastic cover. Alright, let’s a look at the included accessories first. This is the Bluetooth remote control for navigation. Very handy as you can control the projector in any direction.

Comes with voice command and Launch Board shortcut buttons. Here is the AC adaptor with US plug and USB-C port. Worldwide support with 100 to 240V input. By the way, it has 65W PD power output. Therefore, you can use any 65W PD charger for Go Advanced too.

Lastly, here is the handy user manual. As usual, take your time to go through it. FYI, there is a simple soft copy of user manual in the projector itself too.

Design & Build Quality

WEMAX Go Advanced 300 has outstanding build quality. All thanks to rock-solid metal housing and plastic for the bottom part. Stylish in design as you can see. Ultra portable too. Period. Almost the same size as the Nintendo Switch. Easy to carry around and store during travelling. Less than 1-inch thickness and weight at 780g. Yes, it is the most powerful compact projector that I have tested so far.

LED status light indicator can be found on the top. You can’t miss the ‘beam into the future’ wording there too.

4 tiny anti-skid pads and an adjustable mini stand are located at the bottom. And some projector information can be found there as well. As usual, go visit wemax.com for more information.

There is a lot of stuff located in the front. Heatsink with fan, camera, focus sensor and the projection lens are there. The cover helps to protect the lens. And also will power on the projector when slid open.

USB-C port power input, headphone jack, USB 2.0 port and HDMI 2.0 port are located at the back. Air intake vent is there too.

Air intake vent and a 2W speaker are located on the left.

Another 2W speaker is hidden on the right. Have a closer look at the adjustable mini stand. Adjustable to suit your projection height. Very useful indeed.

And here is what Go Advanced looks like with the mini stand. No external tripod is needed for presentation on the go.

Portability

WEMAX Go Advanced is the ultimate business companion.

As you can see, it is even smaller than the 14” Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 laptop. Of course, it is lighter in weight too.

Just slightly taller than the laptop with less than 1-inch thickness. Perfect for your business trip and daily meeting in the office. Ease to carry around no doubt.

The best part of a battery-powered projector – you can present PowerPoint when you are working outside. Or use it in the meeting room easily. Just connect to a 65W power bank when the juice is running low. That’s all.

Of course, that does not limit to office work only. Go Advanced is perfect for entertainment on the go too. Enjoy your favourite movie with your family anytime, anywhere.

Smart Screen Calibration

Say farewell to complex screen setups and adjustments! Yes, Go Advanced is loaded with advanced auto-calibration technologies including automatic TOF focus, keystone correction and intelligent obstacle avoidance. It brings you the perfect picture in seconds automatically. A great feature for business users indeed. Just find a wall or projector screen, and you are good to go.

Projection Sizes

Based on specs, Go Advanced supports screen sizes from 40” to 120”. But it can go smaller or bigger too. 600 ANSI Lumens is good enough for daytime usage. I am projecting at 80” screen size with all lights turned on in my room right now. As you can see, the image is still clear and visible during the day. Rest assured it will perform well during meetings in the office too.

How about movie night in a totally dark room? Yes, it performs even better. Colours, contrast and brightness are much better as you can see. By the way, I am projecting at 130” screen size on a plain wall now. In addition, you don’t need a big room to enjoy large screen with small throw ratio of 1.2:1. It’s truly your personal portable projector for entertainment needs too.

Image Quality

Excellent optical image quality with 1080p DMD chips by Texas Instruments. Native 1080p display output through XPR Technology. WEMAX Go Advanced is loaded with 600 ANSI Lumens with ALPD 3.0 laser technology by Appotronics. That’s the same laser technology used by more than 3,000 high-end theatres around the world. So you have greater light efficiency, brightness and wider colour gamut. This is an industry first, especially in the ultra-portable category.

102% Rec. 709 colour coverage and 500:1 FOFO contrast ratio. No calibration is needed out of the box. Just plug and play will do. For your information, I am using movie mode for this review. Of course, you can further improve the colours to suit your taste and preferences. More in the settings section later…

Text Quality

Text performance is outstanding. You can present PowerPoint to your group member during the work. Or use it to surf the Internet. Totally up to you. Great for daylight usage as long as below 100” screen size. For your information, external power source like a power bank is needed for the brightest projection.

For extreme test, Go Advanced is performing very well too. Corners are sharp and in focus. The same applies to pixel performance. DLP projector never let me down on this. A lot better than those budget LCD projectors out there. Small texts can be seen clearly, right?

Media Player

Go Advanced works well as a media player even advertised as a business projector. Just plug in USB hard drive or flash drive will do during on the go. Of course, it is working through wireless connection too. You can play almost every type of video format through software like Kodi. It’s an Android projector after all. In addition, a lot of audio codecs are supported. The same applies to subtitle too.

Photo viewing is as simple as ABC. Working smoothly like butter. Crips and detailed. You can share those important business images or casual family photos easily. You can use HDMI, wireless, internal storage or USB port. Totally up to you. As for the built-in 4W speakers, they are decent. Clear and suitable for a quiet room. Good enough for sharing presentations in a small meeting room. Just connect to external speakers if need more power. AUX and Bluetooth connections are available for you and me.

Fan Noise

The fan noise level is excellent. All thanks to efficient thermals that operate with low noise and optimal heat dissipation with the U-design runner. You won’t hear fan noise at all during music or movie playback.

HDMI Input 4K input and HDR decoding are supported once you enable HDMI 2.0 mode. And a lot of refresh rates are supported. Video playback performance is the same between HDMI and Android OS. 24Hz and 50Hz are great and smooth. 60Hz is the best with perfectly smooth playback. Great for fast-paced action video no doubt.

Video Playback Performance

Go Advanced can play 4K contents easily. All thanks to powerful Amlogic T972-H processor. This 24p video is being playback by using Kodi media player on the smart OS. Excellent highlights and shadows. The same applies to contrast too. Great colours and it is suitable for movie no doubt. Outstanding performance in this 4K 60p video. Perfectly smooth video playback is what you get. 50Hz is performing excellently as well. Perfect for PAL regions’ contents like Chinese TV drama.

Smart OS

This is FengOS based on Android 9.0 that WEMAX Go Advanced 300 is using. A smart OS instead of Google Android TV. Amlogic T972-H, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage are more than enough for your daily business and entertainment needs. WEMAX has their own launcher. Simple and easy to use. All the apps will be listed in the Launch Board here.

No Google Play Store but it does have Aptoide TV and GetApps in return. Get your apps and games there. Or install them manually through APK method. Totally up to you. By the way, you won’t be able to use certain applications that require Google services. The rest of the applications should work fine. Do take note…

Features & Functions

Here is the wireless mirroring for Android and iOS devices. In short, Miracast and AirPlay.

By the way, you can turn Go Advanced into a Bluetooth speaker. Or connect it to other Bluetooth speakers. The connection is fast and stable.

WEMAX Go Advanced is loaded with fast auto focus and keystone correction. Comes with intelligent screen alignment as well. Yes, it will let you get started in no time.

Don’t forget the safety proximity sensor that protects your eyes by dimming the projection. On top of the auto features, you can focus manually. The same applies to keystone correction.

Settings

Alright, let’s have a look at the settings. Everything is pretty much straightforward. Take your time to play around with them. And configure the best settings for your taste and needs. It comes in several languages for you. English for me as usual. And here is the system information that you might want to know. FYI, it supports OTA firmware update.

Battery Life

First of all, brightness mode. There are eco, movie and office. When operating with the built-in battery, the lowest brightness eco mode is available only. And will last for around 1 and a half hours. Brighter office and movie modes are available when connected to the power source. So do get yourself a 65W PD power bank if you need brighter modes. For your information, it takes around 3 hours to fully charge WEMAX Go Advanced.

Image Calibration

A lot of stuff can be configured in the image settings. Take your time to find the best one for you. A lot of values can be customized. For example, brightness, contrast, saturation, clarity and tone. The same applies to colour temperature. Yes, RGB adjustment is available.

Fully automated smart screen calibration is there. But you can also fine-tune them manually. For example, the useful projection method. Screen zoom and shift function. Follow by the auto focus and keystone correction mentioned previously.

Wanos Sound

Surround sound effect – Wanos is supported. There is a lot of them to choose from. As usual, try them out and pick the best one for you.

HDMI Settings

Press the menu button on the remote control to bring up the settings on HDMI mode.

They are almost the same as Android OS. For your information, display mode has the best image quality. Lastly, 4K input and HDR decoding are supported once enable HDMI 2.0.

YouTube

Let’s have a look at the most common video app – YouTube. WEMAX Go Advanced can play 4K@60 video flawlessly. No external TV box is needed. In addition, it is loaded with HDR10 video decoding support.

As long as your media application supports HDR, you are good to go. Enjoy even more vivid colours with high dynamic range.

Netflix

How about Netflix? Mobile version which is designed for touchscreen is supported. However, a mouse is required to use it. In addition, you will get maximum of 540p video resolution only. This is common for non-Netflix.

Wireless Mirroring

Wireless mirroring is working perfectly smooth as well. The response is great for wireless connection. Yes, you can share photos and even cast videos from your smartphone to the large screen easily. No laptop is needed on your business trip. Great, right?

WiFi Performance

Go Advanced has 2×2 MIMO WiFi 5 connection. It can reach up to 150 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band. And 250 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. More than enough to stream 4K contents.

HDMI Input Lag

As a projector for business, WEMAX Go Advanced does not perform well in the input lag test. It is getting around 133ms response time on game mode. Not suitable for fast-paced action games. That’s for sure.

Gaming Experience

As usual, pinball is used to test projector gaming ability. Perfectly smooth on the Nintendo Switch game console. But the high input lag spoils the fun sometimes. Hopefully, future firmware can fix it.

Conclusion

Well, that’s all for WEMAX Go Advanced 300 review. A solid ultra-portable laser projector with Android for on the go. Perfect for business and suitable for home entertainments too. Interested? You can get more information on its product page.
